Business consulting that tells you what you need to hear

Most consultants hand you a slide deck and disappear. We sit beside you through the hard decisions: restructuring costs, replacing systems that don't work, or rethinking a product line that lost its margin two years ago. We work with owner-managed businesses across Northern Ireland, typically between 10 and 250 employees.

Four weeks from confusion to a plan you can act on

Week one: the diagnostic

We spend two days on-site. We interview your leadership team, review your last three years of management accounts, and map every process that touches revenue. No questionnaires sent by email. We talk to people face to face.

Week two: the numbers

Our analysts compare your cost structure, gross margin, and overhead allocation against sector benchmarks from the ONS Annual Business Survey. You get a 12-page report, not a 90-slide deck. Where the data shows a problem, we say so plainly.

Week three: the options

We present two or three costed scenarios. Each one includes a timeline, a cash flow forecast, and a list of what changes for your staff. We rehearse the hard conversations with you before you have them.

Week four and beyond: implementation support

If you want us to stay, we join your weekly management meetings for up to six months. We track the actions we agreed and flag anything falling behind. Our fee for this phase is capped at the start so there are no surprises.

What we actually do

Operational audits

We trace every pound from sale to delivery. Where does time leak? Which handoffs create errors? A typical audit covers procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, and dispatch. The output is a prioritised list of fixes ranked by payback period, usually between two and fourteen months.

Financial restructuring

When cash is tight, the instinct is to cut everywhere. That rarely works. We model which costs to protect and which to reduce, then help you negotiate revised terms with suppliers and lenders. Three of our last five restructuring clients moved from monthly losses to positive EBITDA within nine months.

Growth planning

Should you hire, acquire, or partner? We build a financial model for each path and stress-test it against two downside scenarios. You walk away with a board-ready plan, a funding brief if needed, and a 90-day action schedule your management team can own.

Interim management

When a key person leaves suddenly, or during a transition between owners, we place one of our senior associates inside your business two to four days a week. They hold the operational rhythm while you recruit a permanent replacement. Typical placements last three to six months.

Ownership transitions

Selling to a management team, bringing in a partner, or handing the business to the next generation: each route needs different preparation. We handle the commercial due diligence, value the business using discounted cash flow and comparable transactions, and project-manage the legal process alongside your solicitor.

Questions we hear often

Most of our clients turn over between £1m and £30m. We have worked with larger firms on specific projects, but our methods are designed for businesses where the owner or managing director is still close to daily operations. If you have a board of twelve and a strategy department, a Big Four firm is probably a better fit.

A diagnostic costs a fixed fee agreed before we start, typically between £4,000 and £8,000 depending on business complexity. Implementation support is charged monthly with a cap. We never bill by the hour because it creates the wrong incentive for both sides.

Yes. About a third of our work is with businesses in the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, or the north of England. The diagnostic week still happens on-site wherever you are. Ongoing support can be partly remote, but we find that one in-person day per fortnight keeps things on track.

Good. That means the conversation is honest. Our job is to present the evidence and the options, not to override your judgement. If you decide a recommendation is wrong for your business, we document why and move on. We have never walked away from a client over a disagreement.

We are not a grant-writing service, but we regularly help clients prepare the financial projections and business cases that Invest NI and InterTradeIreland require. If a specific programme is relevant to your situation, we will tell you about it during the diagnostic and connect you with the right contact.
